Castle Howard At Christmas | Inside the Castle
Just before coming home for Christmas, myself and a friend, took a trip to the beautiful Castle Howard. Although the weather wasn't great, it was a wonderful way to get into the festive spirit. Both the grounds and the house has been decked out for Christmas with and endless number of Christmas Trees to marvel at, alongside the remarkable exterior and interior of the Castle.
The building itself was incredible, the architecture and design really takes you into a different era and makes you wonder what life would have been like. The details in decoration, painting and furniture is just exquisite, everything had been so carefully thought out.
Each room had it's own christmassy touch, in a darkened room, this model of the grounds was made out of Gingerbread, which gave off such a wonderful and festive aroma. There was even a working miniature gingerbread train which traveled around the main castle. The room really smelt delicious.
I really love visiting places and learning about it's history, everything placed within the house had a story behind it. While the Christmas touches brought such a festive feel. Even the root of the tree hanging from the ceiling was painted with gold, matching the gold details in the ceiling. If you ever have the chance to go, I would recommend it.
